SkinPen® Precision is a medical-grade microneedling treatment used to improve skin texture, tone and resilience. It is the first device of its kind to be FDA-cleared for acne scarring, and is designed to trigger the skin's natural repair process — stimulating collagen and improving overall skin quality. Not all microneedling pens are the same. SkinPen® is clinically studied, sterile and precision-engineered, which is why we use it at CARA.

How It Works

After cleansing and numbing, your practitioner passes the SkinPen® device over the treatment area, creating controlled micro-channels in the skin. This triggers a natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production. A sterile single-use tip is used for every patient. A take-home post-procedure recovery kit is provided to support healing.

Not all microneedling pens are made equal. SkinPen® Precision is the first microneedling device to be FDA-cleared, uses sterile single-use tips, and is backed by published clinical data. Cheaper, unregulated devices can cause uneven depth, infection risk and scarring.

A course of 3-6 treatments is typically recommended, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The exact plan depends on your skin and goals.

Topical numbing cream is applied beforehand, which makes the treatment well tolerated. Most patients describe it as a mild prickling sensation.
